Google launches 'PC Connect' virtual desktop app for Android XR productivity and gaming

Google has officially launched 'PC Connect,' its first-party virtual desktop application designed specifically for PC productivity and gaming within the Android XR ecosystem. This new application is intended to bridge the gap between high-powered traditional computing and the immersive capabilities of extended reality headsets and devices running Android XR.

According to Road to VR, 'PC Connect' allows users to stream their full PC desktop environment directly into their virtual reality or mixed reality workspace. This feature enables high-fidelity gaming and resource-intensive applications, such as video editing or 3D modeling, to be accessed and controlled seamlessly within a virtual environment, greatly enhancing the utility of Android XR devices.

The launch positions Google to compete directly in the virtual desktop market, offering a robust tool for power users seeking maximum flexibility. By integrating productivity and gaming streams, Google aims to make Android XR a comprehensive platform for both professional work and high-end entertainment.
