Hamas says Israel's killing of senior commander threatens ceasefire

Tensions in the Middle East flared after Hamas announced that Israel’s recent targeted killing of a senior commander poses a direct threat to the existing ceasefire agreement. Hamas officials indicated that this action breaches the terms of the fragile peace established between the parties.

The killing is viewed by Hamas as a major provocation, suggesting potential retaliation and renewed violence. International mediators are likely to intervene swiftly to try and de-escalate the situation before the truce collapses completely.

Meanwhile, conditions for civilians in Gaza remain dire. Reports highlight that floods, mud, and cold weather continue to add significantly to the misery of Gazans displaced or affected by the recent conflict.
