Carney holds media availability after historic meeting with First Nations leaders in Ottawa | LIVE

Prime Minister Mark Carney will speak at 3:30 p.m. ET, following a historic meeting between First Nations leaders and some of the country’s premiers in Ottawa on Monday. Carney said it’s the first time in two decades the first ministers have met in person with First Nations leaders. Assembly of First Nations National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak said First Nations fought hard for this meeting and it should not be the last such gathering with first ministers. “Our task is twofold. First is to work together to create opportunities for all our peoples, while building a country that is stronger, more sovereign and more independent,” Carney said.
