Greenpeace activists in Indonesia climb iconic statue in haze protest

Six Greenpeace Indonesia activists climbed the Welcome Monument in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (Oct 20), calling for urgent climate action and greater government accountability amid worsening environmental disasters - such as the transboundary haze - and rising living costs. The group was brought down by rescue teams about two hours later and were taken into custody by the police. The demonstration was timed to mark the second anniversary of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration and coincided with wider demonstrations across parts of the country. #indonesia #indonesianews Subscribe to our channel here: Visit our website: Download our app (Source: CNA (Channel NewsAsia) | Region: Global)
