More consumers are sending their phones for repair as prices of new handsets rise

Rising mobile phone prices are driving more people in Singapore to repair their devices or buy used handsets. New phone sales fell 14% between 2023 and 2025 according to a study. One retailer saw repair jobs surge 46% over the same period as consumers held on to their phones for longer. The trend is also boosting the resale and e-waste recycling markets, where up to 90% of a phone's parts and materials can be recovered. Eugene Chow reports.
