Victoria Barracks in Paddington faces potential sale by the Federal Government, prompting a protest of more than a thousand people including Defence Force veterans. Former Prime Minister John Howard joined the rally opposing Defence Minister Richard Marles' February announcement to sell the historic site, which has served as a military facility since Governor Lachlan Macquarie proclaimed the land in 1811.
